Two deported from Reunion Island, one from Japan

A couple who was preparing to illegally enter France by reaching the Reunion Island belonging to France by boat have been deported to Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Meanwhile a person

who had illegally entered Japan and lived there for 11 years was also deported to Sri Lanka, on Tuesday.

Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had taken these three persons into custody on their arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport on Tuesday

Those deported from France were a 21-year-old youth, a resident of Palugaswewa, Arachchikattuwa and a female aged 49 years, a resident of Sinnakkaru, Bangadeniya.

During questioning it was revealed that this couple had gone to France by a boat from Chilaw at the end of 2018.

Seventy two persons who went to Reunion Island seeking entry to France have been taken into custody by the Reunion Island security forces were deported to Sri Lanka on February 14, 2019 and it is said that these two have been staying there up to now citing various reasons.

The person who was deported from Japan is a resident of Nochchiyagama Udunuwara Colony. The Criminal Investigation Department stated that this 37-year-old had secretly gone to Japan in 2011.
