Tamil Nadu: NCPCR seeks report after 3 kids’ die due to suspected food poisoning

New Delhi: Taking cognisance of Tiruppur private orphanage incident, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) asked Tamil Nadu secretary to submit Action Taken Report within 48 hours.

In the incident that took place in Tiruppur district, three children died while 8 others fell sick allegedly after consuming food.

According to media reports, two children found dead in their hostel room while, one died on the way while he was being taken to hospital.

“Food poisoning suspected but exact cause to be only known after clinical investigation of samples. Case registered against private orphanage administration,” said Collector Vineeth.

All the children have admitted to hospital where they are undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, three have been shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as their health conditions started deteriorated.
