Staff and the patients at the Lady Ridgway Hospital (LRH) were inconvenienced on Wednesday as the CEB disconnected power supply to several sections of the hospital due to the non-payment of electricity bills.
A senior Medical Officer attached to the LRH said that LRH normally gets a monthly electricity bill of Rs.8 million to nine million.
However, several places including the canteen at LRH were without power on Wednesday due to the non-payment of electricity bills. However, steps were taken to pay Rs.8 million after informing the relevant Authorities soon after the power cut. But, staff at the LRH requests the Health Authorities to pay arrears in time to avoid any further power interruptions.
