Dignitaries at Chintan Shivir

The Chintan Shivir will be attended by Home Secretaries, Director Generals of Police (DGPs) of the States, Director Generals of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Director Generals of Central Police Organizations (CPOs). The Chintan Shivir of Home Ministers is an initiative to offer a national perspective to policy creation on issues connected to internal security, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The Shivir would increase planning and coordination amongst many stakeholders at the central and state levels in the spirit of cooperative federalism.

Main discussion points

The Shivir will discuss topics such as modernising police forces, managing cybercrime, increasing the use of IT in the criminal justice system, managing land borders, coastal security, women’s protection, and drug trafficking, among others.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, spoke at the Chintan Shivir on Thursday in Surajkund, Haryana.

Amit Shah stated, “Taking inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this Chintan Shivir is being organised, which will provide a unified platform to address challenges before the Nation like cyber-crime, the spread of narcotics, and cross-border terrorism in harmony.

At the gathering, which is being presided over by Amit Shah, were the chief ministers of eight states, as well as the home ministers and deputy chief ministers of sixteen other states. Amit Shah emphasised that the Northeast and J-K are currently the development centres.

“All States will need to combat them by adopting a common approach because crimes nowadays are changing and growing borderless. The Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is promoting the 3C’s, which stand for Cooperation, Coordination, and Collaboration between the Center and the States, in order to develop and carry out this common strategy, in the spirit of “Cooperative Federalism,” “Whole of Government,” and “Team India,” “Home Minister for the Union said.

The chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Kerala, Assam, Goa, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Manipur, and Tripura, who are all in charge of their respective states’ home ministries, all attended the event.

Other participants included the Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Nagaland, the Governor of Rajasthan, the Home Ministers of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha, and Telangana, as well as the Finance Minister of Jharkhand. The event was organised with the goal of creating an action plan for the implementation of “vision 2047”.
