A young mother was killed when she jumped in front of the train at the Wellawa Waraddana railway crossing yesterday (24) afternoon.
She had jumped in front of the train with her three-year-old child. However, although the young mother died in the accident, the baby’s life was saved as the child had fallen away from the railway tracks when the train hit the woman. The child had sustained minor injuries to one of the legs. The Wellawa Police, who are conducting investigations into the incident, state that they have not been able to confirm the identity of the two victims so far.
