Major train accident in Bihar: 55 coal-laden coaches derailed

Patna: In a major train accident in Bihar, a coal-laden goods train crashed on Wednesday morning after its brakes failed near Gurpa station on the Gaya-Koderma railway section.

In the accident, about 55 wagons of the goods train ran over each other. As soon as the incident took place, a loud noise was heard in the surrounding areas, causing panic.

The accident happened at Gurpa station at around 6:24 am today. The operation of trains on this route has come to a complete standstill. Passenger trains have been stopped at nearby stations only.

The goods train, with 58 coaches, was carrying coal from Hazaribagh town. A sudden train accident happened near Gurpa station on Gaya railway line derailing 55 coaches. According to reports, the RPF team reached the spot in a hurry.

During the accident, there was such a loud noise that people of about four-five kilometer area got scared and ran towards the spot. According to preliminary information, the brakes of the goods train had failed.

About 3 hours after the accident, a JCB machine reached the spot and the work of clearing the debris was started. It is being said that the track of the upline has also been uprooted. Several power poles were broken and the traction wires were also damaged.

With this, a large number of passengers are making rounds to the Gaya railway station to cancel their tickets.
