Joint search to locate missing Navy patrol boat

The Sri Lanka Navy has launched an extensive search operation with the support of Sri Lanka Air Force in the sea, South of Sri Lanka to locate a Sri Lanka Navy patrol boat which went missing early this week.

According to Navy Spokesman Captain Indika De Silva, all attempts made by the Sri Lanka Navy to have communications with the patrol boat failed and they believe that a power failure may have led to the communication failure with the boat.He said that this boat might have been got caught in heavy current and drifted away from our territorial waters“We have already informed the Navies of neighbouring countries about this boat,” he said.

Captain Silva said that six persons were on board the boat which had gone missing in the sea south of Sri Lanka and was operating close to the shores. This boat has been manufactured in Sri Lanka.
