Fuel distribution as usual - Dealers

The public should not panic about a fuel shortage since fuel distributors have resumed placing orders for fuel as usual, Fuel Distributors’ Association Secretary Kapila Naotunna said.

People tend to gather at filling stations assuming that there would be a fuel shortage following a decision taken by the fuel distributors not to order fuel from the CPC.The decision was taken after the Power and Energy Ministry planned to charge a levy from fuel distributors.

CPC authorities took action to temporarily suspend the decision to charge the tax from the fuel dealers from Tuesday morning.

Fuel distributors announced that they place orders for fuel purchasing from the CPC. Accordingly fuel distribution came to normal from Tuesday. Therefore most of the filling stations will receive fuel by tomorrow and there won’t be a fuel shortage in the coming days.
