Karapitiya Hospital Police said that a four-year-old child who was being treated at the Karapitiya Hospital after being accidentally shot at a cinnamon estate Yakkalamulla had died. The child is a resident of Yakkalamulla, Magedara. On October 19, a four-year-old child was killed and another person was seriously injured in a shooting incident in the estate. The four-year-old child sustained serious injuries to the abdomen.
The shooters were targeting a person named Saman Kumara (33) who was grinding cinnamon. He too had died on October 19 as a result of the shooting. This person is a suspect in a murder case in the Karandeniya area. He was released on bail from being shot dead with a T56 firearm by three men who came on a motorbike, while he was grinding cinnamon. Police are investigating.
