A road was filled with vehicles as far as the eye could see in a video that news agency ANI posted. While their cars were still snarled up in a massive traffic jam, drivers could be seen honking ceaselessly. Another video from the same place taken in the later hours shows that the sights persisted into the evening.

Two-day ahead of celebrations of Dhanteras and Diwali, when people return home to be with their loved ones and partake in a lot of buying and market visits, there was a rush. Most of the everyday traffic between Delhi and Gurugram is caused by people travelling for work, which may help to explain the massive traffic bottlenecks that developed during rush hour.

Over the past few days, such traffic jams have been seen in and around Delhi.

Due to the pre-Diwali rush, Gurugram had severe traffic congestion earlier this week. According to a police officer, there was a five-kilometer-long traffic gridlock on the road between Hero Honda Chowk and Pataudi Road. Along Sohna Road, towards Badshahpur, Sohna, Pataudi, and Farrukhnagar, there had also been reports of traffic jams. According to officials, internal roadways in Sectors 10, 14, 15, 50, and 56 were also crowded throughout the day.
