Daughter-in-law kills mother-in-law for not ‘vacating’ house, hits her head against wall

Bengaluru: In a tragic case from Karnataka’s Bengaluru, a quarrel between a daughter-in-law and her mother-in-law over the issue of vacating the house resulted in the mother-in-law’s murder. Raniyamma (76), a resident of Srirampur’s 7th Main Road, was murdered under the jurisdiction of the Srirampur police station.

The daughter-in-law Suguna (46) was arrested and imprisoned in this case. The murder took place on the evening of October 12th and was discovered later.

Raniyamma had one son and three daughters. She had a two-story house in Srirampur. This property was transferred to her son a few years ago. The son and daughter-in-law lived on the first floor, while Raniamma lived on the ground floor.

Recently, the son transferred the house in the name of his wife, Suguna. The daughter-in-law, Suguna, frequently argued with the mother-in-law, Raniyamma, and demanded that she leave the house.

Suguna and Raniyamma had a noisy argument about leaving the house on the evening of the 12th. Suguna became enraged during the fight and punched Raniyamma in the face. She smacked her head against a wall. Raniyamma collapsed and lost consciousness at this point.

A woman from the next-door house overheard the quarrel between Raniyamma’s mother-in-law and daughter-in-law and contacted Raniyamma’s daughter Gayatri to tell her about it.

Panicked Gayatri arrived in Srirampur from Malleshwar and discovered her mother, who was unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital right away, and the doctors who examined her proclaimed Raniyamma dead.

According to the officials, the accused Suguna was arrested based on Gayatri’s complaint.
