Ceylon Shipping Corporation Ltd (CSC) has launched a shipping directory forSri Lanka which is believed to be the second such comprehensive directoryfor the maritime industry in the world.
Chairman CSC, W. S. Weeraman said that this director has been formed with all Sri Lankan maritime sector products, services and contact details included. The portal has been completely built and serviced by an in-house technical team.
He said that while 99% of local maritime sector related products and services are already listed in this directory several international companies too have obtained advertising slots in this directory.
Though several shipping companies, related services providers have their own web portals, there was no common portal to have all maritime related stakeholders included in one listing. “We have seen such comprehensive and all in one directory only in Morocco.”
Weeraman said that the director will also net in sizable unforeseen revenue in the excess of Rs. 3 million annually. “This is by way of advertising revenue.”
With more foreign companies listing with us we expect this revenue to double from 2024.” (SS)
