Embilipitiya Police arrested an ambulance driver, who fraudulently altered the odometer of the Embilipitiya District General Hospital’s ambulance by fixing an external device.
The suspect had cheated fuel for a considerable period by altering the odometer of the ambulance, and had sold that quantity of fuel to others.
The Police commenced an investigation on the incident following a complaint from the Office of the Provincial Health Services Director. An individual, who had captured the incident in his mobile phone, had sent the relevant video to the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Health Director.
After producing before the Embilipitiya Magistrate’s Court, the suspect was remanded till November 9.
