Ven. Bhikkhuni An Dieu in Sri Lanka to help the needy

Ven. Bhikkhuni An Dieu from Vietnam was in Sri Lanka last week to provide assistance to the most needy families living around temples in some parts of the country.

On her arrival to carry out the project, she was welcomed by Madam Ho Thi Thanh Truc, the Ambassador in Sri Lanka for Vietnam.

Most Ven. Bhikkhuni Dieu Xinh of Buu Son Monastry, Dinh Quan, Dong Nai, of Vietnam is responsible for organizing the programme in collecting necessary funds to assist the most deserving families in Sri Lanka. She has collected the necessary money as donations from her family members and some devotees from Vietnam and USA.

Nguyen Thi Toan, Third Secretary of Vietnam Embassy in Sri Lanka, Mrs. Hong of Technical Staff, Mrs. Thu, and Mrs. Nga, owner of Vietnam Restaurant in Colombo, extended a helpful hand in carrying out the project.

Ven. Bhikkhuni An Dieu distributed dry rations to around 1,000 families spending more than Rs. five million. The families that received dry rations included those living at Walukaramaya, Moratuwa, Sri Rathana Pre-School Centre, Aluthwala, Jinarathana Dhamma School, Shailabimbaramaya, Anuradhapura, Sri Pragna Pradeepa Vidyaayathana, Ambathalawa, Kotmale, Jinendraramaya, Kandapola, Nuwara Eliya, and Beragama Raja Maha Vihara, Beragama.

Apart from the families, the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka also received a donation from Most Ven. Bhikkhuni Dieu Xinh.
