President pays last respects to the Queen

President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who left the country to attend the funeral ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II, arrived in London at noon on Saturday (17) and paid his last respects to the Queen yesterday. The President was welcomed by Ben Mellor, Director, India and Indo Pacific Ocean Directorate of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, King’s Special assignee Deputy Lieutenant Dave Easton and Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Britain Saroja Sirisena. The President who will attend the funeral ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey, London today (19) is scheduled to return to the country on Wednesday (21). 

During this period the President appointed the respective State Ministers as the acting Ministers of the Ministries under the President.

Accordingly, Pramitha BandaraTennakoon has been appointed as the acting Defence Minister, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya as the acting Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policy Minister, Geetha Kumarasinghe as the acting Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment Minister and Kanaka Herath as the acting Technology Minister and DilumAmunugama as the acting Investment Promotion Minister.
