Policeman uses personal funds to construct well at Police station

A newly transferred Police officer to the Elpitiya Police station upon hearing of the difficulties faced by both Police officers and the public who visit the Police station due to lack of water for both drinking and sanitary facilities has utilised the Rs.200,000 he saved for an alms giving at his house, to construct a public well at the Police station premises and solve the water issue.

Police Sergeant Dinesh Anura Kumara who hails from Polonnaruwa upon hearing about the water issue had informed his higher officers that he can provide the money he saved for the alms giving for the worthy effort of constructing a public well.

According to sources, the newly appointed Officer In Charge at the Police station Anura Wijesinghe upon his arrival had admonished the officers for not solving the water issue. Police Sergeant Dinesh Anura Kumara upon hearing about the issue had informed his higher officer that he is willing to provide his personal savings to construct a public well to supply water to the overhead tank in order to be distributed to the entire Police station premises.

This worthy effort has been greatly appreciated by the public and Police officers.
