National agency to co-ordinate public-private partnerships

Cabinet approval has been granted to establish a Public – Private Partnership (PPP) National Agency to necessary measures required for encouraging investments. The Government Information Department (GID) yesterday said that the proposal in this regard has been  furnished by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as the Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies Minister.

According to the GID, this national agency is expected to be established under the Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies Ministry to enable taking necessary measures required for encouraging investments by furnishing proposals for identification of obstacles and issues confronted by investors when investing within Sri Lanka and solving them as well as identification and implementing public – private partnership (PPP) projects within a specified time frame.
