Maharashtra: No road connectivity to hospital, tribal woman delivered baby girl midway

Palghar: In a village of Maharashtra’s Palghar district, a pregnant woman delivered her baby in sense forest as she was being carried in a makeshift stretcher to the hospital due to improper road.

Media reports claim that people made such arrangement as the roads connecting the village to city were damaged.

A medical officer informed that a 21-year-old woman went into labour on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday. The incident was reported from Eina village in Jawhar taluka.

Owing to the situation, people had to make a stretcher using clothes. As there were no proper road connectivity, the locals chose the way through a thick forest at around 3 am. The walked up to nearly five kilometres.

The authorities confirmed that the girl gave birth in the middle of forest. However, she was admitted to Jawhar Patangshah Sub District Hospital in the early hours of Sunday. The mother and her daughter are in a fine condition.
