The Elections Commission plans to hold the Local Government (LG) Election in March next year. It is reported that the Gazette related to the Local Government Election will be issued after October 30.
The term of Local Government bodies ended last March and its term has now been extended by another year. The one year extension period will lapse by March next year and therefore the election should be held before the end of the extended period.
Accordingly, the Election Commission stated that the relevant announcement should be issued for holding the election three months prior to the ending of the extended period.
Meanwhile, the Elections Commission plans to update the voter lists by October 30. After updating the voter lists, the Gazette notice will be issued relating to holding the Local Government Election.
