IND A vs NZ A: Big blow to Team India ahead of ODI series against New Zealand, star bowler out

New Delhi: Ahead of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand A, the India A team has suffered a major setback. Star bowler Navdeep Saini has been ruled out due to a back injury. He has also been ruled out of the remaining matches of the Duleep Trophy.

The pacer sustained the injury on the first day of the Duleep Trophy semi-final between North Zone and South Zone in Salem. During the match he was able to bowl only 11.2 overs.

The three-match ODI series will start from September 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Saini’s exit before this series will be a big blow for the Indian team.

Rishi Dhawan got the place

Saini will now undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Rishi Dhawan has been included in the India A team in place of Saini.

Saini was included in the team that won Kent’s trophy in the recent Royal London One-Day Cup. He took five wickets in five matches he played. He took 11 wickets during his two County Championship matches for Kent. That included a five-wicket haul against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.
