The increase in water charges by 70% will be effective from today (01).
Under the new amendment, the water unit rate of an average household will increase as well as the fized rate.
A unit of water is considered to be 1000 liters.
According to the existing price system, the water bill of an average house that uses 15 units of water is 310 LKR.
Accoring to the new revised price, the water bill of a house using 15 units will be 705 rupees.
