CBI raids NHAI office in Patna, Rs 60 lakh recovered

Delhi: Taking a major action in Patna, the Central Investigation Agency (CBI) on Friday raided the office of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). From here, the Chief General Manager (CGM) of NHAI, Sadar Alam was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. Along with the CGM, two staff are also involved in this bribery scandal.

NHAI has its zonal office in Patna. Sadar Alam is posted here as CGM. When the CBI team raided, Sadar Alam was taking bribe from the people of a company in Nashik. This action of CBI has created a stir among the officers and employees of NHAI.

Complaint was received against CGM and DGM

According to CBI sources, complaints were being received continuously about the CGM and DGM posted in the Patna office of NHAI. These people were extorting illegally in the name of passing the tender bill. Meanwhile, a company based in Nashik complained to the CBI. Told about these two officers that they are demanding bribe in the name of passing the bill. Only after this a complete trap was laid and today the raids were conducted.

Rs 60 lakh cash recovered so far

After catching the CGM while taking the bribe, the CBI team raided the CGM and 8 different locations of the people involved in the bribe taking scandal. According to the official information given by the CBI, till now Rs 60 lakh cash has been recovered.
