AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan sent to four-day custody

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan has been sent to four-day custody on Saturday in the Delhi Waqf Board corruption case.

Delhi Police had lodged 3 FIRs following a previous raid at premises connected to him and his aides. He was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau on Friday from Okhla.

The ACB, on Friday, arrested Khan from Okhla over a matter pertaining to financial misappropriation and irregularities in the functioning of Delhi Waqf Board. It was told in the FIR that Amanatullah Khan had illegally recruited 32 persons while working as the chairman of Delhi Waqf Board.

The AAP MLA was accused of being involved in corruption. The then CEO of Delhi Waqf Board had also issued a memorandum giving a clear statement against such illegal recruitment.

According to the ACB, Khan had illegally rented out several properties of the Delhi Waqf Board. There is also an allegation against him that the funds of Delhi Waqf Board were misused.

Case filed against relatives

Based on the inputs received by the ACB, Delhi teams raided 4 places and recovered 24 lakh cash and two illegal and unlicensed arms and cartridges.

The teams had also raided places of the relatives and acquaintances of Amanatullah Khan. The ACB has said that attempts were made to create obstacles in the proceedings and a case was registered in the South East district in regards to this.

Apart from this, a case of misbehaviour by the relatives of Khan has also been registered. A case has been registered against Amanatullah Khan on the basis of objectionable material and evidence.
