Yasin Malik calls off hunger strike in Tihar Jail

New Delhi: Yasin Malik, chief of the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, called off his hunger strike last evening after he was told that his concerns have been forwarded to senior authorities.

Yasin who was lodged in Tihar Jail of Delhi, went on hunger strike saying that the authorities are not investigating his case properly.

As per media reports, Director General (DG) of Delhi Prisons Sandeep Goel assured the Kashmiri terrorist leader that his request has been forwarded to senior authorities.

Malik started his hunger strike on July 22 but he was admitted to RML hospital on July 26 owing to fluctuation in blood pressure.

He was returned to jail on July 29 but refused to eat until his demands were fulfilled.

The Kashmiri separatist was awarded life imprisonment after he was convicted in a terror-funding case.

Malik has been transferred to Medical Investigation (MI) room of the prison where he is receiving treatment. The separatist leader is kept in a high-risk cell in Tihar jail.
