West Bengal: CBI raids another Anubrata Mondal property in Birbhum

Bolpur (West Bengal): Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anubrata Mondal’s involvement in the cattle-trafficking case in the Birbhum district of West Bengal is being investigated by the CBI.

On Monday morning, the CBI conducted a raid at ‘Sivashambhu Rice Mill’ in Birbhum. At the time of writing this report, the officials of that rice mill are being interrogated by investigators.

According to sources, Anubrata Mondal’s nephew Raja Ghosh is a joint owner of this rice mill. The ‘Sivashambhu’ rice mill is situated on about 10-12 bigha area in Bhubandanga Sukantapalli area on the road to Jambuni in Bolpur. Locals claim that several ‘close relatives’ of Anubrata Mondal used to frequent the rice mill.

It is known that a person named Amit Aggarwal of Burdwan had taken the lease of that rice mill for 20 years. Later he committed suicide, leaving behind a lot of debt. After Amit’s death, two persons named Shivcharan Das and Shivani Ghosh took over the lease. That period will end in March 2023.

According to local sources, Shivani Ghosh is Anubrata Mondal’s sister. Raja Ghosh is her son. It is claimed that Raja owns another rice mill in Bolpur.
