Vaibhavi Malhotra says ‘OTT is a blessing’, chooses strong female characters for debut

New Delhi: Newbie Vaibhavi Malhotra is all set to take the plunge and make her debut as the lead in Endemol Shine’s ‘Dhan-Abaad’ directed by Karan Darra starring Karan Kapadia, Makarand Deshpande and Kunal Thakur to name a few.

She has also signed Zee Studio’s next crime drama, ‘Brown’ directed by Abhinay Deo starring Karisma Kapoor, Soni Razdan and legendary Helen. When asked about the characters she plays,’Both my characters are very strong, vulnerable yet empowered. Unlike my contemporaries, my journey as a first-generation in the film industry hasn’t been easy and bagging such characters after years of endless auditions makes me feel very grateful.’

Vaibhavi hails from Delhi after completing her graduation in Political Science Honours from the prestigious Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University and Post Graduation in Journalism from St Xaviers College, Mumbai. Malhotra says,’My education has played a vital role in shaping me as an individual and the knowledge Ive learnt over the years helps me make well-articulated decisions. I bagged my debut right after my post graduation. OTT platforms definitely are a blessing but moving forward, I aspire to work in films and make my place in the heart’s of people.’

Ekta Kapoor and Endemol Shine’s ‘Dhan-Abaad’ is expected to release this year and Zee Studio’s ‘Brown’ is currently being shot.
