Unable to speak due to fractured jaw, rape-attempt survivor tells plight through letter

Ludhiana: Recently an incident was reported from Punjab’s Moga where a woman athlete was thrown from first floor for resisting three boys trying to rape her. The victim was a letter to the Police as she could not talk due to injuries in her jaw.

The woman said she went to the stadium for practice when she received a call from his friend and prime accused Jatin Kanda. Kanda invited her to the first floor where he along with his two friends attempted to harass her sexually.

The accused also tried to snatch victim’s mobile phone. As soon as the victim started to escape from the spot, the three assaulted her by beating up and then, threw her from the first floor.

The incident took place on August 12 when the girl suffered fractures in both legs and in jaws.

A case has been registered on the complaint of victim’s father. The police have also identified other two accused in the matter and launched an investigation to find them.

Meanwhile, the family of the prime accused has claimed that Jatin and the girl knew each other. They said the victim was pressurising Jatin for marriage.
