Truecaller revamps iOS app to protect against spam, scam

New Delhi: The Swedish caller ID software Truecaller revealed on Tuesday that it has updated its iOS version to provide stronger spam and fraud defence.

The company claimed that compared to earlier versions of the app, the iOS app has been totally rewritten from scratch to be lighter, more efficient, and offers 10 times better spam, scam, and business call recognition.

“We have been innovating within Apple’s platform to bring users more powerful features like Call Alerts, Call Reason, and a convenient search extension,” Alan Mamedi, co-founder and CEO of Truecaller, said in a statement.

“This update has been a long time coming for many iPhone users, and now we can offer them the best performing identifier of spam and scam to help them separate the noise from the communication they want to respond to,” Mamedi added.

Additionally, the app has undergone a thorough redesign and user experience flow that speeds up day-to-day navigation and reduces the time required for initial onboarding.

According to the business, significant advancements in spam detection, SMS filtering, and community-based services will soon be made, including a revamped number look-up widget that will make it even quicker to look up unknown callers.

The iPhone app will also get automated filtering of the most prolific spammers, access to in-depth information on numbers designated as spam, and the opportunity to examine and comment on numbers marked as spam to offer context.
