Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: The man who made $5.8 billion from Rs 5,000

New Delhi: The country’s veteran businessman Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, 62, passed away today at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was ill since a long time. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was recently seen in public at the inauguration ceremony of Akasa Airlines.

The net worth of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is said to be around Rs 40 thousand crores. He had worked very hard to become the owner of so much wealth.

It is said that Rakesh Jhunjhunwala had made up his mind to go into trading after college. When he told his father Radheshyam Jhunjhunwala (income tax officer) about this, the father flatly refused to give money for trading. It is said that after this he somehow deposited five thousand rupees and reached Dalal Street in 1985 with five thousand rupees. He invested this money in the share market. A few days later, he bought 5000 shares of Tata Tea for Rs 43.

Rs 5 lakh profit on investment of Rs 2,15,000 

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala bought 5000 thousand shares of Tata Tea at the rate of 43 rupees i.e. he invested 2 lakh 15 thousand rupees. After about 90 days, when the share price of Tata Tea went up, he sold it with a profit of Rs 100 per share, i.e. Rs 143. Within three months, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala made a profit of five lakh rupees. After this Rakesh Jhunjhunwala never looked back.

Rekha had asked her when will an AC be installed in this house? He did not reply. He told that till 6 pm on that day my net worth was three crore rupees and after the market closed my net worth had reached 20 crore rupees. When he reached home at night he told that the AC will be installed soon.
