The Immigration and Emigration Department has taken over the passport of a female foreign national who published social media posts carrying messages such as force is being used against ‘Aragalaya’ protesters such as pointing guns against their heads to drive fear into their minds.
Officials has taken her passport into custody near the Battaramulla area. She has been told to report to the Department within seven days.
A senior official of the Department said that her passport has been taken into custody by the Department in relation to a complaint that she had violated visa conditions.
He said further investigations will be done in this regard.
