Enable GingerMinister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekara asked the Speaker in the Parliament today (29) to establish a parliamentary committee for the procurement of fuel and coal imports.
He further demanded that the position of its chairman be given to an opposition member.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekara stated that the opposition MPs had accused the relevant procurement process on many occasions, and therefore complained to the Criminal Investigation Department for investigation.
He pointed out that Patali Champika Ranawaka, who accused about the procurement, should assume the position of Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee.
MP Patali Champika Ranawaka said in the Parliament today that he is ready to accept the proposal.
