Kerner shows up, warrant recalled, Counsel apologises

Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela yesterday recalled the arrest warrant issued against Social Media activist Dr. Pathum Kerner, after he surrendered to court.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Tuesday (23) as he failed to appear in court.

Kerner has been accused of assembling people to the Polduwa Junction on July 13 to storm the parliament and breaching the barricades set up for the security of the parliament. He is on bail with regard to the case.

President’s Counsel Rienzie Arsecularatne appearing on behalf of the suspect told the magistrate that his client was unable to appear before Court on Tuesday as he had noted down a wrong date for the next hearing. The President’s Counsel also made an apology on behalf of his client.

After taking facts into consideration, the Magistrate fixed further inquiries for November 29.
