Interim Budget 2022 to be presented on August 30

The Interim Budget for the next four months of this year (2022) is to be presented in Parliament on August 30 by the President and the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policy Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena presented the Appropriation Bill No. 30, which includes government expenses related to this interim budget, to Parliament on the 9th of this month.

In it, the Government expenditure of Rs. 3,275 billion and the finances allocated to the President, Prime Minister and various ministries was presented to the Parliament.

In the budget presented by then Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa on November 7, 2021, the Government expenditure estimate was Rs.2,796 billion.

Compared to that estimate, the expenditure estimate of this year’s Interim Budget has increased by Rs.479.4 billion.

Instead of the most money being allocated to the Ministry of Defense in the last budget, it is special that this budget has allocated the most money to the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government.

The amount allocated to that ministry is Rs.734.6 billion.

The second highest amount has been allocated to the Ministry of Defense. The amount is 654.3 billion rupees.

Also 303 billion rupees has been allocated as the President’s budget,

Rs.307.1 billion has been allocated to the Ministry of Transport and Highways, Rs.248 billion to the Ministry of Health, Rs.189.2 billion to the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Capital, Rs.200 billion to the Ministry of Education, and Rs.138.5 billion to the Ministry of Agriculture. .

Apart from this, the expenditure estimate has been submitted to the parliament by allocating money for other ministries, and it is the hope of the government to read the budget document on the 30th and finish the third reading very soon and implement the budget quickly.
