Government reviewing 40 stalled infra projects worth Rs 3.37 lakh crore

New Delhi: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Project Monitoring Group (PMG Invest India) examined 40 important infrastructure projects worth Rs. 3.37 lakh crore that are stalled because Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Ministry of Railways clearances are still pending.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, these projects include 11 that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously examined through PRAGATI and several that were classified as GatiShakti High Impact Projects.

Representatives from the Ministries of Railways and Forests, Environment, and Climate Change were present at the conference. The dignitaries talked about topics such right-of-way, railroad land use, and clearing forests. The two Ministries offered clear deadlines for problem solving. Officials from User Agencies also shared their thoughts on the general state of the projects.

The Hubli-Ankola New Line Project (164.44 km), a super-critical Railway project stalled due to litigation issues regarding wildlife clearance given by the National Board of Wildlife, and the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor connecting Sarai to Meerut are just a few of the high-profile projects under review. BharatNet, the broadband connectivity plan, seeks to bring broadband to 361,000 villages across 16 states and is scheduled to be (NE-5).

The DPIT applauded the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change for its efforts to simplify the legal procedure for obtaining environmental and wildlife clearances and for the extensive reforms made in this area to guarantee the timely commissioning of infrastructure projects across India.

The Project Monitoring Group (PMG) was established with the goal of resolving bottlenecks in the nation’s infrastructure development.
