Galle Face protesters told to move out

The Fort Police yesterday informed the protestors at Galle Face and the surrounding area to withdraw from the area before 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Making a special announcement using a Public Address system at the Galle Face, the police informed that all the temporary shelters and crop cultivations in the lands belonging to the government and the Urban Development Authority in the vicinity of the Galle Face should be removed with immediate effect.

It further said that those occupying the area should adhere to the country’s law and behave in a manner that will not disrupt the general public.

The police also warned that legal action will be taken against the individuals who will not follow the given instructions.
