Fuel issue: Cabinet nod for Evaluation Committee

The Cabinet has approved the appointment of an Evaluation Committee to look into the viability of interested parties for the import, distribution and sale of fuel in Sri Lanka.

Earlier, the Cabinet had decided to give opportunities to new companies that produce and sell fuel.

According to the newspaper advertisement published inviting new companies for entering the fuel sector, the appointment of the Evaluation Committee, which is expected to be approved by the cabinet, will be done in the coming days. Accordingly, the Sri Lankan market will be opened for other companies such as Sri Lanka IOC Company to sell fuel in Sri Lanka along with CYPETCO. A discussion between Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera and the relevant authorities was held at the Ministry yesterday about the future programme of this process.
