Former Director of the Kalutara General Hospital Dr. D. Somadasa Wijewardena, 86, died yesterday. Dr. Wijewardena is a popular social worker in Beruwala had served a number of hospitals in the country before being appointed as the Director of the Kalutara General Hospital He is a past pupil of De Mazanod College, Kandana and Ananada College, Colombo.
He is the father of three daughters, Dr.Jayampika Wijewardena, Dr. Priyangika Wijewardena and Dr. Nayomi Wijewardena.
Dr. Wijewardena is a member of Dayaka Sabha of the historical Kande Viharaya in Aluthgama and Sri Shailabimbaramaya in Kurunduwatte, Beruwala. The remains lie at his residence at Reguwa Road, Beruwala. Funeral will take place at 4 p.m. at the Aluthgama crematorium today.
