Pathum Kerner was taken into custody on 28 July, by the Colombo Crimes Division, after he had arrived in to record a statement in connection with the unruly incidents, reported at the entry road to the Parliament near Polduwa Junction on July 13. President’s Counsel Rienzie Arsacularathne appearing on behalf of the suspect raised an objection and pointed out that there is no legal basis for conducting the identification parade as his client’s photos have already been published in newspapers and other electronic media.

However, the Additional Magistrate rejected the objection and ordered to direct the suspect for the identification parade.

Attorney T.Weragoda appearing on behalf of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka alleged that they went to Prison to meet Pathum Kerner on August 3.
