Uttar Pradesh: 9 killed by speeding bus on Purvanchal Expressway in Barabanki

Accident in Barabanki: A speeding bus rammed into another bus parked on roadside from behind on the Purvanchal Expressway in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning. Both these buses were going from Bihar to Delhi.

Nine people including a child died on the spot in the accident. Around 18 people are injuredl.

A double-decker bus going from Bihar to Delhi had stopped at an authorized dhaba on the Purvanchal Expressway. Here the passengers were having breakfast. However, the passengers were sitting in the bus. Meanwhile, another double-decker bus coming from behind hit it hard. The accident was so severe that nine people died on the spot.

On receiving information of the incident, ASP Manoj Pandey of Loni Katra police reached the spot and started rescue operations. The buses were removed with the help of cranes and traffic was resumed.

 

The people of the surrounding villages also gathered on the information of this accident in the early hours. Villagers also helped in evacuating people trapped in buses and in getting vehicles to take them to the hospital. ASP Manoj Pandey said that prima facie, the driver of the bus coming from behind seemed to be the cause of the accident. The bodies are being identified and the injured have been admitted for treatment.
