1953- Famous singer Anup Jalota was born today

Bhajan Samraat Anup Jalota was born today in 1953. He is an Indian singer, musician and actor best known for his contributions to the Bhajan genre of Indian Music. He is popularly known as the “Bhajan Samraat” (Emperor of Bhajans). Padma Shri was conferred upon him by Government of India in 2012. He was a contestant on the reality show Bigg Boss 12.

1959- Indian Actor Sanjay Dutt was born today

Famous Indian actor Sanjay Dutt was born on 29th July 1959. He is the recipient of several awards, including two Filmfare Awards and three Screen Awards. Part of the Dutt family, he is the son of actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis.

1891-Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar death anniversary

Social reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar passed away today in 1891. His efforts to simplify and modernise Bengali prose were significant. He also rationalised and simplified the Bengali alphabet and type, which had remained unchanged since Charles Wilkins and Panchanan Karmakar had cut the first (wooden) Bengali type in 1780. He is considered the “Father of Bengali prose”.

1996-Aruna Asaf Ali death anniversary

Today is death anniversary of Aruna Asaf Ali . She was an Indian educator, political activist, and publisher. An active participant in the Indian independence movement, she is widely remembered for hoisting the Indian National flag at the Gowalia Tank maidan, Bombay during the Quit India Movement in 1942. Post-independence, she remained active in politics, becoming Delhi’s first Mayor.

International Tiger Day 

International Tiger Day is celebrated on July 29 to raise awareness about the conservation of the wild cat, which over the last 150 years has witnessed a massive drop of nearly 95% in its population. However, with several countries taking measures to curb poaching, illegal wildlife trade, human-wildlife conflict, and habitat loss, etc, the tiger population has shown some growth.
