Three arrested for selling items stolen from Presidential Palace

The Welikada Police had arrested three suspects who were attempting to sell some of the items stolen from the Presidential Palace during the protest on July 9.

According to the Police, the suspects are residents of Rajagiriya Obesekarapura area and are 28, 34 and 37 years of age.

The suspects had stolen 40 copper balls that were attached to the walls of the Presidential Palace to hang curtains. These items had been stolen when a group of protesters stormed the President’s House on July 9. Investigative officers suspect that the suspects are drug addicts. The suspects are to be handed over to the Anti-Vice Unit of Colombo-North for further investigations.
