Struggle will continue if President, PM don’t resign - IUSF

The struggle against the President and the government will further be extended unless the President and the Prime Minister resign from their current positions within the day today (13), the Convener of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige told Daily News yesterday.

He said the government of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe should be held responsible for the damage caused to the President’s House and other buildings following the tense situation of July 9.

“Nothing of this nature would happen to these properties if the President and the Prime Minister vacated their positions before July 9. If they resigned, the protesters would not have occupied these premises and such damage would also not have taken place”, he stressed.

Mudalige also said the peaceful protesters have taken every step possible to protect these properties to their best by allowing the public to enter into only a limited area.
