Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera announced revised days for obtaining fuel according to the last Digit of the Number Plate yesterday.
Accordingly, Tuesday and Saturday have been allocated for the vehicles having 0,1 or 2 as the last digit of the number plate, Thursday and Sunday for vehicles with 3,4 or 5 as the last digit and Monday, Wednesday and Friday for vehicles having 6,7,8 or 9 as the last digit.
This will be effective countrywide from tomorrow (21), he said.
He said the QR Code-based system will be tested at multiple locations in Colombo between July 21 and 24.
However, the QR code-based fuel distribution programme will be implemented countrywide only from Monday (25), he further said.
Two million consumers had registered with the QR system by 4.00 p.m. yesterday and the registration will continue, he further said.
