Respect Constitutional process for a peaceful transition of power - HRCSL

The Human Rights Council of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) yesterday expected all sections who have been agitating so far to fall in line with the Constitutional process and maintain law and order for a peaceful transition of power in terms of the Constitution.

The HRCSL in statement issued by its Chairperson former Judge of the Supreme Court Rohini Marasinghe said that all Parliamentarians should ensure that the highest democratic standards are maintained so that Sri Lanka will continue to be a representative democracy.

“For a peaceful transition of power in terms of the Constitution. Expect the country to act responsibly and all sections who have been agitating so far to fall in line with the constitutional process and maintain law and order and protect the fundamental rights of the people,” the statement added.
