Neeraj Chopra creates history at World Athletics Championships: Neeraj Chopra has created history at World Athletics Championships as he wins the silver medal in Javelin Throw, India’s first ever in 39 years.
Tokyo Olympics Champion Neeraj Chopra struggled at the start of the finals as he marked an unsuccessful first attempt. In the following two attempts, the 24-year-old looked disappointed with himself as he marked the distance of 82.39m and 86.37m.
The India champion, Neeraj Chopra, knew that this is not enough at World Athletics Championships to get his hands on any of the medals as he was placed fourth with this score.
He went on to improve his performance drastically in the fourth attempt and threw his spear at 88.13m and created history for his country. This was the winning throw for the Indian star as he knew it instantly. The celebration followed the throw that remained his best of all today at WAC2022.

Peters Anderson clinched the gold with the best throw of 90.54m. The Grenadian had booked his spot at the very start of the finals as his first attempt registered at 90.4m. Only a few athletes in the world have managed to go past the 90m mark and Indian boy Neeraj Chopra also aims to achieve in the upcoming times.
Earlier in a visual interview, Neeraj had said, “I was 6cm short of the 90m mark, I was pretty close. I hope to cross 90m this year. But I never think or focus on distance going into a competition. I just try to give my 100 percent,”
This game will surely inspire the 24-year-old Indian to cross the 90m mark as he prepares for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Paris Olympics 2024.
Rohit Yadav, another Indian Javelin throw athlete finished 10th with the best throw of 78.72m.
