Maharashtra: Congress’ Patole demands resignation from Governor, says ‘he should apologise’

Mumbai: Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole Saturday condemned the remarks of state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari over state’s financial status. He also demanded an apology from the latter.

Said Patole in an statement: “We condemn the remarks made by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. He should apologise to the public. He should be removed from his position with immediate effect.”

The development came after Governor Koshiyari made a statement said: “If Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are removed from Maharashtra, especially Mumbai and Thane, no money would be left here. Mumbai would not be able to remain the financial capital of the country.”

Reacting to which, Shiv Sena leader form Uddhav Thackeray camp, Sanjay Raut called it an insult to hard working people of Maharashtra.

He also demanded Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to address the issue and ask for resignation from the Governor.

The Governor made the statement in Mumbai where he was attending a naming ceremony of a chowk in Andheri, a western suburb of the city.
