LIOC bowsers ready to distribute countrywide

The government will purchase 7,500 metric tonnes of diesel from Lanka Indian Oil Corporation (LIOC) to maintain essential services in the midst of the fuel crisis.

It is reported that payments have been made to obtain this amount of diesel.

Meanwhile, all fuel tankers registered with the Lanka Indian Oil company have been instructed to report to the Lanka IOC filling stations countrywide as fuel is being prepared for distribution.

Speaking to the Daily News the Secretary of the Private Bowser Owner’s Association Shantha Silva said that the LIOC had notified all bowsers registered with them to report for duty to transport the fuel shipments.

Recently, the government announced that it would restrict fuel distribution to essential services only and issued diesel only for essential services at the Muthurajawela Petroleum Terminal. However, LIOC has stepped up its fuel distribution to meet the growing demand.
