MiG-21 Crash in Rajasthan: Two pilots of the Indian Air Force were sacrificed on Thursday night when their two-seater MiG-21 fighter plane crashed during a training flight near Barmer in Rajasthan. The plane crashed in Bhimda village of Baitu police station area of Barmer.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has ordered a Court of Inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Defence Minister inquired about the accident from the Indian Air Force (IAF) chief.
According to a report by news agency ANI, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has spoken to Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary about this accident. The IAF cief has shared the complete details of the accident with the Defence Minister.
Rajnath Singh expresses grief
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed grief over the death of both the pilots in a tweet. The Indian Air Force (IAF) said that the aircraft had left for a training mission from Rajasthan’s Utrlai airport on Thursday evening. It crashed near Barmer at around 9.10 pm. Both the pilots were killed.
Court of Inquiry launched
An inquiry has been ordered to find out the cause of the accident.
According to reports, as soon as the plane crashed, it caught fire. The debris was scattered over an area of one kilometer. The body of one pilot was badly burnt and the body of the other was was blown to bits.
