Establishment of power without peoples’ mandate is anti-democratic - Patali

Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka said yesterday that the establishment of power from outside without the mandate of the people is completely anti-democratic.

Therefore, Ranawaka suggested that the group engaged in the struggle should come forward at the next election and seek a mandate from the people after presenting their ideology and programme of work. Ranawaka was speaking at a press conference held in Colombo yesterday (11).

The MP also stated that he has no objection to a group coming to power through such a system.

The MP further requested that people with different political ideologies, including the JVP to contribute to the building of the country, as society demands the unity of social workers and talented people instead of titles and positions.
