Coast Guard displays tri-colour underwater, video goes viral

New Delhi: On the 75th anniversary of Independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has requested to display the national flag in all the houses and institutions of the country. PM Modi requested the people to display the tri-colour from August 13 to 15 as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Ahead of Independence Day, the tricolor is displayed in different ways. In a unique move, the Indian Coast Guard displayed the tri-colour under the sea. The Coast Guard has released a video of this unique celebration.

“As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, the Indian Coast Guard performed an underwater flag demo at sea. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people & to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag,” the Indian Coast Guard said in a statement.

The Indian Coast Guard has undertaken this unique initiative as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

It is customary to hoist the national flag on Independence Day after sunrise and lower it before sunset. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s request is to display the flag from August 13 to 15 this year. But these days the flag does not need to be lowered at night as usual. The Indian Flag Act of 2002 was amended by the government in 2021.

Earlier, the Flag Act said that the national flag should only be made using hand-spun khadi cloth. There should be no machine-made or polyester flags.

With the amendment in the law, along with handloom and khadi, flags made of polyester, silk khadi, wool, etc can also be hoisted.
